Pokemon Inspired Child Beanie




Hi, again!  Now I'm blogging about the companion gift for my little cousin's birthday.  It's a simple beanie that fits a 5-year-old to a small adult(it fits me a bit snugly, my head measurement is 21-22"). It's fine with me if you repost this, just give me a bit of credit; thanks!

Materials:

Red worsted yarn

Black worsted yarn

White worsted yarn

H/5.00mm hook

Yarn needle

 

Abbreviations:

ch- chain

dc- double crochet

sc- single crochet

hdc- half double crochet

Rd- round

st(s)- stitch(es)

FO- finish off

 

Instructions:

 

Hat-

 

With red, make magic circle, ch 2.

 

Rd 1: 12 dc in magic circle, join, ch 2.

Rd 2: 2 dc in each st around, join, ch 2.

Rd 3: 2 dc in 1st st, dc in next st, (*2 dc in next st, dc in next st*) around, join, ch 2.

Rd 4: 2 dc in 1st st, dc in next 2 sts, (*2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts*) around, join, ch 2.

Rd 5: 2 dc in 1st st, dc in next 3 sts, (*2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts*) around, join, ch 2.

Rd 6: 2 dc in 1st st, dc in next 4 sts, (*2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts*) around, join, ch 2.

Rd 7-9: Dc in each st around, join, ch 2.

Rd 10: Dc in each st around, join, change color to black.

Rd 11: Sc in each st around, join, change color to white.

Rd 12-14: Dc in each st around, join, ch 2.

Rd 15: Sc in each st around, FO.

 

Button-

 

With white, magic circle, ch 1.

 

Rd 1: 2 hdc in each st around, join, change color to black.

Rd 2: 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next st, (*2 sc in next st, sc in next st*) around, join, FO leaving a long tail.

 

Finishing-

 

Weave in all ends and sew the button to the middle of the hat on rd 10.
